Shamoon Abbasi’s Durj Release Date Postponed following Censor Board Ban

Shamoon Abbasi gave all his blood, sweat and tears for his upcoming film Durj and the promising trailer is just a bit proving the point. But it seems like the upcoming film is all into shackles at least as of now as all three censor boards have imposed the ban on it. Not to forget the film was about to get an international release on 11th October, and a domestic release on 18th of this month.

The maker and star actor of the film Shamoon Abbasi remained quite optimistic after failing to get the clearance from censor board weeks back. Abbasi appealed authorities to take a review and yet fall short of the desirable results. In such circumstances, Shamoon finally took to social media to announce about postponing the film for an indefinite time. It will be pertinent to mention here that even Pakistani cinemas were all set up for the release as they have got the posters of the film displayed around.

Prior to Durj getting postponed, the megastar also asked fans to help him through this lean patch by supporting the film.

Up the latest, Shamoon Abbasi took to Facebook to update the film getting postponed for international release due to the ban imposed by censor boards. In his latest message, the maker of the film categorically showed his annoyance and distress towards the censor board Islamabad.

In a heartfelt note on Instagram here is what Durj official Instagram account posted about the ban on the film:

With a heavy heart we have to excuse and announce to the Gulf fans and followers of #DURJ that,

The expected release of #DURJ was today on the 10th of October,

But unfortunately due to some anonymous reasons the film has been banned in Pakistan even after receiving 2 boards clearance and now we cannot complete the required documentation for the Gulf region,

We are shocked and surprised that we had to lose the entire gulf region because of this matter in Pakistan,

We hope to continue with the due diligence in the future and will continue to ask for a solution to this matter as a lot of financial losses are already underway because of this ban

Requesting to the authorities to solve the matter as soon as possible kindly

Durj Film Story

The story of film ‘Durj’ is inspired by true events that took place in Punjab as two brothers were sent behind the bars for two years for digging out fresh graves and taking out the dead bodies. Following the sentence, both of them were released without getting any mental health examination. No one at that time had the slightest doubt of what both the criminal brothers were up to nor did the constitution of Pakistan have a clause to charge them with.
