PTI Senator to talk with authorities to retain Sarfaraz Ahmed as Captain till T20 World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Team suffered a shocking defeat to young guns of Sri Lanka in T20Is. The clean sweep at home ground raised several questions on the performance of Number 1 T20 side. And with T20 World Cup round the corner, it was quite some an alarming situation for the new incumbent coaching staff and the captain, who had nothing much to do with the bat.

Pakistan Cricket Board made a decision that seems well acceptable with the masses but wasn’t something to cheer about for Sarfarz Ahmed’s fans. The removal of Sarfraz Ahmed from T20I and Test Captaincy was purely based on his personal form rather than the team performance under his wings. Not to forget, Sarfaraz’ Test batting average fell to 36 from staggering 50 in 2015. The situation wasn’t different for T20Is as well until few not outs helped him to look presentable at least.

Still, you can’t negate the fact that it was ideally Sarfaraz Ahmed’s heroics to make Green Shirts the number one side with leading 11 straight series wins and making record in this short format of the game.  It should be noted here that Karachi-born captain stood victorious 29 times out of 37 T20I games he captained. The phenomenal record as T20I captain made Sarfaraz look one ideal candidate for the T20I World Cup scheduled to take place next year. But his poor performance with the bat pushed PCB to pull off a strict decision months before ICC event.

Though, you may not see many supporters of Sarfaraz in this difficult time, still Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar thinks this decision was nothing short of a shocker. The latest addition in this not so much powerful chorus is PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan, who thinks that removing Sarfaraz from captaincy doesn’t make any sense.

“Sarfaraz Performance as T20 Captain was phenomenal. I can’t believe why PCB sacked him in T20s. I will talk to authorities to retain him as a captain till next T20 World cup,” PTI Senator added.

Since the news of Sarfaraz’s dismissal made it to the internet it seems like Faisal Javed Khan is vocal against PCB’s decision right from then. It will be pertinent to mention here that the politician from governing party holds over 1.1 Million Twitter followers and he actually makes an impact on the social media in some capacity.
